Bad Boy Records Moves To Interscope

Written by Music Info

Sean "Diddy" Combs has signed with Interscope Geffen A&M in a deal which includes his future albums and creates a new joint venture with Combs' Bad Boy label.

The first release on the new Bad Boy/Interscope joint venture will be Combs' own upcoming album "Last Train To Paris," Interscope said in a statement on Tuesday.

No financial terms were disclosed and the length of the deal was not disclosed.

Previously, Combs and Warner Music Group's Atlantic label had a deal that lasted almost five years.

The current Bad Boy roster and catalog will remain with Bad Boy's Warner Music joint venture which was once valued at $60 million.

Combs' run with Atlantic was mixed with hits from TV reality show act Danity Kane and hip hop/R&B artists like Yung Joc and Cassie between 2006 and 2007. But in the last two years Bad Boy has had limited chart-topping success.

Warner Music signed a deal with Combs in April 2005 just ahead weeks of going public. Analysts said later it was a bid to highlight the diversity of Warner's roster with hip hop and R&B artists. Warner had been best known for rock acts like the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Led Zeppelin.

Interscope, which is headed by Jimmy Iovine, has a long history with hip hop and at times courted controversy with partnerships with labels like Death Row Records in the nineties.

Today it is home to labels like rapper 50 Cents' G-Unit Records and Eminem's Shady Records but also pop artists like Lady Gaga and Nelly Furtado.

Universal Music Group is owned by French media giant Vivendi.

Lil Boosie Gets 2 Years In Prison

Written by Willy D

Louisiana rapper Lil Boosie (born Torrence Hatch) pleaded guilty to a third-offense marijuana possession charge on Tuesday and was sentenced to two years in prison. The plea deal came just one day before the MC's latest album, Superbad: The Return of Boosie Bad Azz, debuted in the top 10 on the Billboard albums chart.

According to Baton Rouge station WBRZ, Boosie will serve at least one year in prison after prosecutors reached an agreement with his lawyers in which all but two years of a 10-year sentence were suspended. The rapper will also be on active supervised probation for two to five years after his release from prison. If he completes his probation, the gun charge will be dropped.

"I'm ready to get this behind me," Boosie, 25, told Judge Chip Moore one week before he was scheduled to stand trial in connection with his October 22 arrest. During the incident, East Baton Rouge sheriff's deputies found a bag of marijuana, a cigar loaded with weed and another unspecified drug and a gun in a car driven by Boosie. At the time, he was charged with third-offense possession of marijuana, punishable by up to 20 years in prison, as well as possession of a firearm with a controlled dangerous substance, a crime that carries a mandatory minimum five-year prison term.

The judge set a November 9 sentencing date and strongly warned Boosie to stay out of trouble and away from drugs, guns and convicted felons between now and his sentencing, according to WBRZ. If the rapper is rearrested, tests positive for drugs or fails to show up for his November sentencing date the judge warned the consequences will be harsh.

"When I do catch up with you, I can assure you I will not abide by this agreement of 10 years. It will be much more," Judge Moore told Boosie.

Rick Ross Robbed ??

Written by Willy D

Usually when rappers get robbed it's usually by some straight up goons rocking a mask or rag. In Rick Ross's case, he was apparently seduced before getting got. According to CBS affiliate Channel 5 News in Nashville, Rick Ross got got for over $60,000 worth of his personal belongs including jewelry and a laptop.

Apparently, 4 strippers made their way to Ross and his crew’s hotel room at the Hilton in downtown Nashville after a performance for some apparent groupie love. The four women then proceeded to do what appears to be a reinactment of the movie “Set It Off” relieving the boss of his items and making what they thought was a clean getaway. But cameras in the hotel have caught the suspects and now Crime Stoppers are looking for them. Check it out
